GLP-1 medications (for example, semaglutide, tirzepatide, or similar agents) are prescription drugs intended for the treatment of specific medical conditions and are not appropriate for everyone. Treatment decisions, including whether to prescribe any medication, are made solely at the professional discretion of the provider based on your individual medical history, exam, and labs.
All medical procedures and medications involve risks, side effects, and possible complications. Potential risks of GLP-1 therapy may include, but are not limited to: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, possible thyroid C-cell tumors, low blood sugar (especially if used with other diabetes medications), and other serious or life-threatening reactions.
